About us
We are James and Andi Sharp and have been welcoming guests to Alexander Lodge since 2019. For 15 years prior to this, we have lived in central Bournemouth where we raised our three (now adult) children.
We know Bournemouth well, there is so much to do and see all year round and we love sharing this with our guests. Andi has worked in hospitality for many years and James loves to cook, so between us we will make your break with us as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. Our reviews often include the phrase "nothing is too much trouble". So whatever it is you need - we will do all we can to provide it.
We are very proud to have now achieved a ranking of #2 for B&Bs in Bournemouth on Trip Advisor, 5* google reviews and 9.6 "Exceptional" rating on Booking.com. We are also delighted to have just been awarded Dorset B&B of the Year 2023/2024 by Dorset Tourism! So thank you to all our guests who have left us such kind feedback and made achievements like these possible.
We are also passionate about preserving this wonderful world in which we live and so our aim is to run an ethical business that has as minimum an impact on our environment as possible. As a result, all our food (where possible) is free range and locally sourced, we use as little unnecessary packaging as possible to reduce waste and always reuse, recycle and reduce as often as we can.
So whether you arrive into Bournemouth by land, sea or air - when you find your way to Southbourne (3 miles east of Bournemouth town centre) you will discover the air is clear, the sea is blue, the parking free and the welcome second to none. There are many brasseries, restaurants and coffee lounges on Southbourne Grove but do book a table in advance as these can get very busy in the summer months (see our recommendations and links on "Places to Eat"). A cleansing ale or artisan gin may tempt you into a local micro-pub in the evening and then after an amazing night's sleep (we have zip and link mattresses which suit even the most eccentric of sleepers) you can enjoy the full impact of James' full English breakfast the following morning!
Alexander Lodge is a place that will calm your soul and remind you once again that even in these uncertain times, life is indeed good.
